Letting the Light In
There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in. – Leonard Cohen

Letting the light into our participants’ lives is the true essence of CATR’s mission. Many people arrive at CATR feeling hopeless after trying a myriad of therapies and activities without success. The joy experienced when gaining the attention of a horse grazing in the pasture, touching a muzzle for the first time, or moving astride a 1000-pound animal is completely unmatched. This unfiltered joy creates the crack that lets the light in. As the light brightens dark spots, hope begins to flicker and eventually ignites! With the hope of a brighter future, a more peaceful mind, and a stronger body comes incredible progress that was once unimaginable.
Behind the joy-inspired cracks, the newfound light, the reawakened hope, and the unparalleled growth our students experience is a person who cares. A person who cares about the child with autism who has found her place at the barn. A person who cares about the disabled veteran who finds weekly solace as he joins the herd in a beautiful pasture. A person who cares about the family grieving a loved one who laughs together when they hear a welcoming nicker. The people who care provide the light that brightens and so deeply impacts our students’ lives. As our program year ends, we ask that you continue to be our shining light and give generously this month!
